Below are details about optometry continuing education and license renewal in Arizona.

Arizona Optometry Continuing Education Requirements: 32 hours are required every two years, due by the licensee’s birthday. Of the 32 required hours, at least 8 hours must be in the area of diagnosis, treatment, and management of disease of the eye and pharmaceutical use appropriate to the licensee’s authority.

Arizona accepts 12 hours in online continuing education courses. Licensees must submit proof of completion with their renewal application and must maintain documentation as required by the board. 

New Licensee Renewals: New licensees must complete a prorated number of continuing education hours for the biennial period in which they first become licensed, calculated at four hours per quarter of the renewal period.

Access Optometry is accredited by COPE to provide continuing education for optometrists. These courses are accepted for optometry license renewal by the Arizona State Board of Optometry.
