Massachusetts Optometry Continuing Education Requirements: 18 hours are required every year, due by December 31. If glaucoma certified, at least 3 hours must pertain to glaucoma topics. All medical personnel who prescribe medications must complete at least 1 hour of training on opioid abuse annually.

Massachusetts accepts 6 hours in online continuing education courses. Licensees must maintain documentation of completed CE and are subject to audit.

New Licensee Renewals: New licensees must complete the full annual continuing education requirement for the calendar year in which they renew. There is no reduced or prorated CE requirement for initial licensure.

Access Optometry is accredited by COPE to provide continuing education for optometrists. These courses are accepted for optometry license renewal by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Optometry.
