Below are details about optometry continuing education and license renewal in Colorado.

Colorado Optometry Continuing Education Requirements: 24 hours are required every two years by March 31 of each odd-numbered year. Of the 24 required hours, at least 16 hours must be completed through live clinical conferences or lectures. Additionally, a maximum of 4 hours may be earned through clinical observations or clinical examinations.

Colorado accepts 8 hours in COPE-approved online continuing education courses. Licensees must submit proof of completion with their renewal application and are subject to audit. 

New Licensee Renewals: If the initial Colorado license is issued more than one year before the first renewal, 12 hours of continuing education must be completed before that first renewal. 

Access Optometry is accredited by COPE to provide continuing education for optometrists. These courses are accepted for optometry license renewal by the Colorado State Board of Optometry.
