New York Optometry Continuing Education Requirements: Optometrists who are certified to use therapeutic pharmaceutical agents (TPA) must complete 36 hours of continuing education in ocular disease and pharmacology during each three-year registration period. Optometrists certified to administer oral therapeutic pharmaceutical agents must complete an additional 18 hours in systemic disease and therapeutic treatment, for a total of 54 hours for those who hold both topical and oral TPA certifications.

New York accepts 9 hours in approved online continuing education courses. Licensee must attest completion on state board forms and are subject to audit. 

Access Optometry is accredited by COPE to provide continuing education for optometrists. These courses are accepted for optometry continuing education credit by the New York State Education Department Office of the Professions.
