Kentucky Optometry Continuing Education Requirements: Optometrists without therapeutic pharmaceutical agent (TPA) certification must complete 8 hours of continuing education each year, due by December 31. Optometrists authorized to prescribe therapeutic pharmaceutical agents must complete 15 hours of continuing education each year, including at least 7 hours in ocular therapy and pharmacology. Optometrists credentialed for expanded therapeutic procedures must complete 20 hours of continuing education each year. A maximum of 2 hours may be in office management or administrative topics.

Kentucky accepts 5 hours in online continuing education courses. Licensees must submit proof of completion with their renewal application and are subject to audit.

Access Optometry is accredited by COPE to provide continuing education for optometrists. These courses are accepted for optometry license renewal by the Kentucky Board of Optometric Examiners.
