Below are details about optometry continuing education and license renewal in the District of Columbia.

District of Columbia Optometry Continuing Education Requirements: 38 hours are required every two years, due by March 31. Of the 38 required hours, 32 hours must be directly related to the practice of optometry, 4 hours must be in public health and 2 hours must be in cultural competence/LGBTQ.

DC accepts all 38 hours in approved online continuing education courses. Licensees must submit proof of completion with their renewal application and are subject to audit.

Access Optometry is accredited by COPE to provide continuing education for optometrists. These courses are accepted for optometry license renewal by the District of Columbia Board of Optometry.
