Course Outcome

≥93% of participants will strengthen their ability to manage glaucoma patients by improving their skills in detecting early disease, evaluating progression, choosing and adjusting treatments, and coordinating care.

Course Objectives

After completing this course, the participant will be able to:

  • Identify subtle structural and functional clues in early and atypical glaucoma, including how to detect signs of disease before visual field loss occurs.
  • Analyze risk factors and diagnostic imaging to stratify disease progression and personalize follow-up intervals.
  • Select and sequence pharmacologic treatments based on mechanism of action, disease stage, side effect profiles, and patient-specific factors such as comorbidities or lifestyle barriers.
  • Recognize clinical scenarios that require a reassessment of target intraocular pressure or referral for surgical or laser intervention, including indications for MIGS and SLT.
  • Manage the ocular surface side effects, adherence challenges, and patient communication barriers associated with long-term glaucoma therapy.

Who Should Enroll?

  • Doctors of Optometry (ODs): Practicing optometrists seeking to refine their diagnostic acumen, treatment planning, and co-management decision-making for glaucoma across its clinical stages.
  • Clinicians interested in current pharmacologic strategies, SLT integration, and surgical readiness pathways.
