Below are details about optometry continuing education and license renewal in Kansas.

Kansas Optometry Continuing Education Requirements: 24 hours are required each year, due by May 31, a total of 48 hours. Of the 24 required hours, at least 5 hours must be in ocular pharmacology, therapeutics, or related clinical topics approved by the board. No more than 4 hours may be in practice management, and no more than 4 hours may be earned through observation of ophthalmic surgery, which counts toward the non-live limit.

Kansas accepts 12 hours in approved online continuing education courses. Licensees must submit proof of completion with their renewal application and are subject to audit.

New Licensee Renewals: New licensees must complete a prorated number of continuing education hours based on the portion of the annual renewal period during which they are licensed.

Access Optometry is accredited by COPE to provide continuing education for optometrists. These courses are accepted for optometry license renewal by the Kansas State Board of Examiners in Optometry.
