Below are details about optometry continuing education and license renewal in South Dakota.

South Dakota Optometry Continuing Education Requirements: 45 hours are required every three years, due by September 30. 5 hours must be in pharmaceutical education related to diagnosis and treatment of ocular disease. A maximum of 8 hours may be in practice management. 

South Dakota accepts 15 hours in approved online continuing education courses. Licensees must retain documentation of all completed continuing education for audit by the board. 

Access Optometry is accredited by COPE to provide continuing education for optometrists. These courses are accepted for optometry license renewal by the South Dakota Board of Examiners in Optometry.
