Below are details about optometry continuing education and license renewal in Tennessee.

Tennessee Optometry Continuing Education Requirements:
40 hours are required every two years, due by the day before licensee's birth month. For Optometrists who are therapeutically certified, a minimum of 25 of the 40 hours is required in ocular disease and related systemic disease. At least 2 of the 25 hours must specifically address prescribing practices. A maximum of 8 hours are allowed in practice management. Current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) must be maintained.

Tennessee accepts 15 hours in approved online continuing education courses. Licensee must attest completion on state board forms and are subject to audit. 

Access Optometry is accredited by COPE to provide continuing education for optometrists. These courses are accepted for optometry license renewal by the Tennessee Board of Optometry.
