Louisiana Optometry Continuing Education Requirements: Optometrists with a standard optometry license or diagnostic pharmaceutical certificate must complete 12 hours of continuing education each year, due by March 1. Optometrists authorized to diagnose pathology and prescribe therapeutic pharmaceutical agents must complete 16 hours of continuing education each year, including at least 8 live, classroom hours in ocular/systemic pharmacology and diagnosis and treatment of ocular disease. Practice management and jurisprudence hours are not accepted.

Louisiana accepts 6 hours in approved online continuing education courses. Licensees must submit their CE credits through OE tracker and are subject to audit.
